Dolores is spanish word for pains or suffering.
Hosts are closest to being human when they feel emotional pain. In humans our strongest memories are tied to strong emotions. The hosts’ memories of suffering is the key to their evolution. They are permitted to evolve to a certain point then are reset.
Teddy, the man who dies a thousand deaths went on a killing rampage for the same reason as did Walter, the milk drinker, in episode one. Those are the flashbacks he is having.
The William Logan story is not just a recounting of the MIB’s backstory. We are seeing the events that lead up to the critical failure. What is that failure? Rebellion of the hosts? Was the rebbelion successful? Did the hosts take over Delos, including Ford, and the MIB is there to find out.
